Description of Villa Ombuto.Cooking School and Villa:
This Tuscan country house is totally secluded and lies on a hill and offers absolute peace and quiet with spectacular views of the surrounding hills and villages. Casa Ombuto lies 50km south of Florence, 35km from Arrezzo, 85km from Sienna and 4km from Poppi which is a picturesque medieval town situated in the heart of the Casentino valley. The house lies on a large estate (80 acres) consisting of woods (Chestnut, Walnut and Oak). Three rivers flow through the property making it an ideal location for walks or picnics or swimming in the rivers. The house has recently been totally restored using original Tuscan materials throughout. The original thick walls, double glazing and insulation makes this house very comfortable in both the height of the summer as in the winter. The largest apartment is on the first floor (the original main house) and two individual apartments can be found on the ground floor both with their own entrances and private terraces. All apartments have been comfortably furnished in farm style teak furniture with great attention for detail. Large living areas with fireplaces, well equipped kitchens with dishwashers. All the romantic bedrooms have adjoining stylish marbled bathrooms with either bath or shower. Central floor heating, laundry room, safety deposit boxes, parking facilities, pizza oven, daily cleaning service and an onsite caretaker.
The large private outdoor area has many different possibilities. The "piazza" is a small secluded square shaded by four very old trees where breakfast can be served, which is equipped with a very large table and chairs, barbecue area and hammocks - also ideal for that lazy Tuscan lunch and afternoon nap. 40 meters from the house positioned on a plateau with a panoramic view is the solar heated swimming pool (15 x 8m) with babypool, Jacuzzi, hydromassage and jet stream features. The pool area is equipped with garden furniture, barbecue and large pergola, an ideal spot for outdoor dining in the shade. This breathtaking spot looks out on the hills and valleys and extensive woods and is the ideal place to relax and enjoy the nature. Fruit tree orchard lies close to the parking area and offers an abundance of fresh fruit in season.
The cantina lies 20 meters from the house. This underground cave-like structure has an arched-bricked ceiling. The cantina has a dining room 70m2 with adjoining professional kitchen (65m2). The six-meter long table in the dining room can seat 20 people and has a large fireplace and guest toilet and stereo. Adjacent to the dining room is a professional kitchen equipped for cooking for large groups with oven, pantry, dishwasher, refrigerators and freezers. Double doors open out from the kitchen and dining room onto a terrace, which can also be used for dining and includes a professional outside pizza oven.

Arrival Florence airport - we can arrange transfer to and from Florence airport on request.
Check-in Casa Ombuto from 16:00.
Welcoming dinner and introduction given by Paola Baccetti at Casa Ombuto and a chance to get to know each other.
Sunday
Breakfast is served in Casa Ombuto and a light lunch at around 13:00 for those who are not sightseeing.
Hands-on cooking lesson starts around 15:00 you prepare a four course meal.
For dinner you will dine on your creations accompanied by a delicious house wine.
Monday
Breakfast in Casa Ombuto.
Time to relax or do some sight seeing or enjoy the pool or take a walk. A light lunch is served around 13:00.

Tuesday
After Breakfast in Casa Ombuto there is a excursion to a Pecorino cheese producer in Casentino. Then we will drive through the Tuscan hills into the Chianti area where we will enjoy olive oil & wine tasting. At one of the vineyards we will have a typical Tuscan light lunch.
After lunch we will drive through the hills to Arezzo where you will have time for sightseeing and shopping. Then we will all dine outside Poppi with a beautiful view of the Castello of Poppi!
Wednesday
Breakfast is followed by a morning at leisure.
After lunch hands-on cooking lesson starts around 15:00 you prepare a four course dinner.
For dinner you will dine on your creations accompanied by the finest Tuscan wines.
Thursday
After breakfast you have the day for yourselves, to do some sightseeing or just enjoythe peaceful surroundings.
An ideal day to make a trip to Florence for shopping and sight seeing as it's only a 50km drive away.
Or visit La Verna an ancient monastery where San Francisco de Assisi lived most of his life.
You can of course stay at Casa Ombuto and relax at the pool or take a dip in the Hot Tub.
Dinner reservations can be made at a restaurant of your choice.
Friday
Breakfast is followed by a morning at leisure and for those interested we have a light lunch ready at 13:00.
Hands on cooking lesson starts at 15:00 and you prepare an elaborate buffet dinner covering all the cooking techniques you have learnt in the week and many more.
Presentation of food will also be demonstrated.
At the grand finale dinner you will be presented with a certificate of attendance.
