Description of Barbados Great House:
Set back in time to the days when manor homes overlooked expansive fields of sugar cane and daylight hours were spent sipping cool drinks in the shade of a breezy veranda. Those days may be gone, but the era lives on with this impeccably restored plantation house. It is a stately West Indian-style manse that looks out not at sugar cane but at Barbados' stunning southeast coast. The house invites you to relax on its grand verandas and admire its glorious island vistas and dramatic ocean views.
Belair is on two floors. Both are surrounded by verandas that enclose three sides of the house. The lower floor consists of a formal dining room, large kitchen, one bedroom, and one bathroom. The dining room is a definite reminder of those regal days with a wonderful antique mahogany dining table with twelve chairs. The very well equipped kitchen opens out onto the ocean front veranda, which is only a short distance from the sparkling freshwater swimming pool. The bedroom on this floor has two single beds, and there is a bathroom on this level which is equipped with a shower.
The upper floor has four bedrooms and two bathrooms. On the back veranda is the living space - a tastefully decorated sitting area where guests may relax and watch television or just sit and chat. This back veranda also has a bar, an informal dining area that seats eight, and a fully-equipped kitchen, which makes it unnecessary to even go down the stairs to the main kitchen.
The bedrooms all look out over the pool and ocean. The master bedroom, with a king-size bed, has an ensuite bathroom, which adjoins a small bedroom with two single beds. The other two bedrooms on this floor have a queen and two single beds respectively and share the second bathroom.
The veranda overlooking the sea on the upper level is ideal for enjoying the splendid view overlooking the pool and the ocean - a perfect setting for sipping cocktails and enjoying the moonlight in the evenings.
The pool deck includes a covered gazebo where guests may have lunch at the large round table which seats ten. There is also a bar-b-q grill on the deck for easy outdoor cooking. Belair has its own tennis court.
The laundry has both washer and dryer. Daily maid service is provided, and for those guests who would prefer to try the local cuisine in the comfort of their villa, arrangements can be made for a cook
