Description of The Paul Mitchell Estate:
The seven separate buildings of the 11,000 square foot estate are architecturally unified by gracefully rounded stucco walls and roofs that are capped by wood shakes made from hand-split Indonesian ironwood and fringed with feathered palm fronds. Throughout the property the high, peaked interior ceilings of the buildings are covered with finely woven grass-cloth matting and are cross-timbered and supported by columns and beams consisting of native Hawaiian ohia tree logs. Other notable features include solid teak doors which were hand-carved in Bali to depict traditional Polynesian patterns and motifs; rich Hawaiian koa wood cabinetry; and, floors and walkways of a variety of polished hardwoods, gleaming marble, and sealed flagstone. In keeping with the traditional Polynesian lifestyle, the various buildings on the estate have high ceilings, skylights and/or fans and an abundance of glass doors and louvered windows that can be opened to allow natural cooling and ventilation by the prevailing tropical trade winds. Currently, only the bedrooms of the estate are air conditioned.
The ocean side of the estate opens to gorgeous vistas of reef-protected, azure waters and of the picturesque Mokolua Islands located a short distance offshore. An arbor-lined pathway leads to a secluded beach cove where guests can enjoy sun bathing, kayaking, windsurfing or ocean swimming in relative privacy.
The Main House features a cavernous, oceanfront living and dining area where the 25? tall ceiling is pierced by multiple skylights which bathe the richly crafted woods and exotic decor with a natural radiance. The Main House also contains a new professional-grade kitchen, newly decorated living room and dining room, as well as two of the estates? seven bedrooms. The oceanfront master bedroom suite provides guests with a fireplace, flat screen plasma TV with swing arm for easy viewing and a marble bathroom with a lavatory, bidet, shower and new air tub.
Covered flagstone pathways, lined by native ohia logs, meander past the Boat House, which has an upstairs ?Crow?s Nest? bedroom suite, its own oceanfront sitting room with a wet bar and a casual gym area and an additional bathroom located on the ground level. The oceanfront Guest Service Pavilion contains a living/dining area with a 42" plasma TV, DVD/CD/VCR player, ceiling fan, a wet bar and a full kitchen. Just beyond the guest service pavilion the pathway leads to the Guest House which contains the fourth and fifth oceanfront bedrooms.
The Bath House, is located behind the Guest House, adjacent to the pool area, and features a Japanese furo tub, a sauna, a garden shower and a koi pond.
The covered Pool Pavilion, with its high ceilings, ohia log columns, mini-kitchen with refrigerator and ice maker, wet bar, stereo system and full baths with showers/changing rooms, serves as the focal point for outdoor relaxation and for informal entertaining and dining. The lagoon-style heated swimming pool and spa area is surrounded by flowering tropical foliage and is accented by a waterfall cascading over natural boulders into the pool to provide an environment of total relaxation.
The Guest Apartment is located above the three-car garage, overlooking the circular drive and interior courtyard of the estate. The apartment has its own living/dining area, kitchen and two bedrooms (sixth and seventh bedrooms) with ensuite baths.
The Paul Mitchell Estate provides an ideal setting for travelers who value quality, privacy and security and the estate has received excellent reviews (and return visits) from many of the entertainment industry notables who have vacationed here. The estate is located 15 miles east of Waikiki in the serene residential area of Lanikai which has no hotels or condominiums and its reef-protected, white-sand beach consistently is ranked among the very best in the USA. There are several golf courses, tennis facilities, great water sports activities, a variety of restaurants, grocery stores, theaters and a shopping mall; all within a 5 - 15 minute drive.

The property has a full compliment of guest amenities including multiple user-friendly integrated phone sytems, high-speed wireless Internet access, laser fax machine, several 42" plasma and LCD TV's with unified remotes, DVD/VCR players, stereo systems, personal safe for guest use, beach/pool towels, dual washer/dryer laundry room, and a gas BBQ.

RATES INCLUDE: Occupancy by a maximum of 14 persons (including infants and children), check-in orientation at the property and light daily housekeeping. The property is fully-equipped with linens, dishes, flatware, cookware, utensils and serving dishes and is stocked with an initial supply of soaps, detergents, cleansers and paper products. Rates are subject to change without prior notice before a rental confirmation is issued.
NOT INCLUDED: Taxes, airport transfers, baggage handling, food or beverages, extra maid service, personal laundry service, outcleaning fee, security deposit or any other items or services not specifically listed in the "Rates Include" section above.
SECURITY/DAMAGE DEPOSIT: The security/damage deposit is typically refunded 45 - 60 days after guest departure.
DEPOSITS & PAYMENTS: Reservation deposit is 50% of total charges. Deposit is due within 7 days of placing a reservation. Final payment is due 60 days prior to arrival date (90 days prior for Xmas/New Year reservations).
CANCELLATION & REFUND POLICY: Deposits and final payments are generally non-refundable unless the property rented is damaged or otherwise rendered unfit for habitation and no acceptable substitute can be found. Pro-rata refunds, less a 15% - 20% fee, may sometimes be made if a reservation is cancelled and the property can be re-booked at an equivalent rate and length of stay but the owner, property manager or booking agent is under no obligation assure or effect any such refund and the specific terms of the rental agreement signed shall apply. The purchase of trip cancellation/trip interruption insurance is strongly recommended.
