As your driver pulls into the drive you know you have arrived somewhere special. Trellises of bougainvillea arch overhead offering shade from the tropical sun and one of the friendly staff comes out to greet you. It is not surprising Tensing Pen Village has been highlighted in publications world wide.
This property offers a variety of rooms from simple bungalows to patio and garden studio rooms to the spacious and very private great house. The grounds are well kept and beautiful. Paths lead all around the numerous buildings that comprise the guest quarters, with quiet and shady nooks to enjoy the wonderful views. This area of Negril is known as the cliffs, here the sheer rock wall rises only about 20-25 feet from the sea. Although there is no beach or pool here, there are accesses to the water, cliffs for diving and ladders to return, and places suitable for diving. You'll find snorkeling is wonderful here. There are patio tables, lounge chairs and hammocks scattered along the cliffs and sunning patios carved out of the rocks with lounges.
Sitting on a rocky bluff, the unique thatched hut accommodations are actually quite elegant, spacious and comfortable. There are French doors that open onto private patios or balconies. Inside the rooms you'll find classic Caribbean style tile floors, stained wooden louvered windows, cool white plaster walls, accented by tasteful furnishings. The furniture is crafted from tropical wood and the mattresses are firm and comfortable. The bathroom is clean and spacious, with plenty of room. The only flaw might be that the bath/shower combination is small by US standards. The larger quarters are very roomy and have walk-in closets.
One of the really nice features of Tensing Pen is the kitchen arrangement. There is a large kitchen facility central to the property and dining tables inside and out. Guests do their own shopping for groceries. The staff is available for meal preparation, but it is more usual that guests join together and prepare their own meals, community style. What better way to make new friends and bring out those creative talents in a comfortable, laid back setting!
Tensing Pen is far out along the West End road of Negril, peacefully secluded. There are local restaurants and craft shops within walking distance and the beach is about a ten minute ride. If you require peaceful, lazy days in the tropics with few disturbances you will be quite happy with this hotel. The staff is friendly and accommodating and the managers, Dave and Bernice will see that your stay is comfortable. Not recommended for children under eight years of age and even then it might be a bit more difficult to enjoy a relaxing vacation. Wait until they're a little older so you can all enjoy!

taxContinental Breakfast is served daily from 7-11 AM in our open-air, communal kitchen. This complimentary meal consists of Jamaica's famous blue mountain coffee, assorted teas, seasonal tropical fruits, cereals, fresh orange juice, toast and jam.
Tensing Pen offers several in-house dinners weekly to our guests. Our excellent cooks prepare healthy Jamaican-style feasts with whatever foods are freshest that day. From sizzling lobster on the grill, fresh snapper escovitch, brown stew chicken, or sweet curried shrimps from Black River, each meal is prepared with flavorful Jamaican flair. Menus are posted in the morning at breakfast.
On nights that meals aren't planned, guests are welcome to cook in the kitchen. Tensing Pen supplies pots, pans, dishware and cutlery, and herbs and spices. Oils, eggs, butter, meats, and other supplies are available nearby at the grocer, or from occasional fishermen passing through the yard.
Of course there are dozens of local dining establishments in both walking and driving distance from Tensing Pen. Here is list of just a few of our favorites. Be sure to check with our staff for directions or help with making your selection: RockHouse Restaurant, Sweet Spice, Cosmos' on the Beach,Just Natural, Mr. Slice, Culloden Cafe in Bluefields, Rick's Cafe, LTU Pub, Kuyaba, Mariposa, Out of Town Pastry, and Juici Patties.
Massage- Enjoy an relaxing massage in the ocean air. Our trained massage therapy staff can work your stress away in just an hour.
Yoga - Many of our guests enjoy the art of yoga. We've built a very special yoga space that will bring you closer to Nirvana.

Rusty's Mountain Biking - You can jog through the countryside, or bike the hills of the island in the Jamaican moonlight. Rusty's X-cellent Adventures offers full-moon mountain bike tours and more at 876-957-0155.
Tony's Tykes Bikes - Located just across the street from Tensing Pen, Tony's offers bicycles and motorcycle rentals on a daily and weekly basis.
Snorkeling - Enjoy some of the best snorkeling waters in the world right off the cliffs at Tensing Pen. Or take a trip to Negril's reef with famous Vincent on the glass bottom boat.

Parasailing -You can see them flying high above the beach front waters and you can fly with them on your next trip to Negril.
