Description of VORNO, Villa ...Lucca:
Villa Tuscany is a large and imposing early nineteenth century Villa, set in attractive gardens and surrounded by olive groves and pine forests, on the edge of a village just a few miles from the beautiful Tuscan town of Lucca.
When the famous Lucchese architect Nottolini designed this gorgeous frescoed villa, he little imagined that the house would still give such enormous pleasure to its guests in the 21st century. It would be difficult to equal such a wonderful venue for an informal gathering of friends or family. The fact that it happens to be located in Tuscany, within easy reach of Lucca, complete with heated pool, tennis court and a Bechstein grand piano, make this beauty one of Europe's most desirable homes.
This elegant villa, located in the hills south of Lucca, enjoys an enviable position and international access, 30 minutes from the Pisa airport, within an hour of Florence and half an hour to the coast. However, despite its easy access, the house enjoys privacy and seclusion, being surrounded by 50 acres of private grounds, pine forests, olive groves and extensive gardens with views to the Appenines. The villa even has its own consecrated chapel, also attributed to Nottolini. Inside the villa, spacious frescoed rooms of understated elegance, provide endless areas for relaxing, entertaining, and room to get away from each other. However, its owners have managed to create that rare combination of delighting even the most fastidious guests, while ensuring that the villa radiates a feeling of warmth and "unstuffiness", that has made it the scene for many happy family gatherings of all generations. A full time chef and house staff take care of meals, which in the summer are legendary; dining under the stars by the pool, under the wisteria, or depending on the party, separate adult and children's tables. Alternatively, large adult parties can dine in style in the frescoed hall by candlelight, or choose the family room, overlooking the mature camellia garden, providing a cozy venue, particularly those with young children. Two living rooms, a library with piano, and a TV room, provide further havens. Huge bedrooms with evocative names like Camellia, Dante, Verdi, Zano and Garfagnano, the principal bedrooms with king sized beds and all with en-suite baths. The Puccini room, on the ground floor, is perfect for those who don't like stairs. Outside, the stunningly beautiful pool, with its thoughtful children's area, has wonderful unobstructed views of the countryside. Adjacent to it are ornamental Italian gardens with huge terra cotta pots of lemon trees and fountains, romantically illuminated at night. A converted coach house can provide extra accommodation for six. There is an all year round (floodlit) astroturf tennis court, pool table, table tennis, jogging, bicycling or golf nearby. There are walks along the many picturesque oaths with interesting views of local cultivation and agriculture. Guests who want to truly savor their vacation can sample the amazing restaurants in the area, and on the chef's day off, a short stroll to the village takes you to a delightful restaurant, with a simple but excellent menu. Ten minutes away is the medieval walled city of Lucca, with excellent shopping and restaurants. For those wanting to celebrate an occasion, or arrange a surprise for a favorite friend or relation,Our owners, and delightful staff have endless ideas and all of the answers. Whether you need a car and driver, a private guide in Florence, tickets for the Palio - or a massage to get you in shape; they can plan a wonderful stay at any time of the year. It is a wonderful part of Italy to explore. Although Florence is only an hour's drive away, we recommend that our guests spend a few nights at an hotel there if they can, rather than trying to see the city from the Villa, then you can devote your time to exploring the historic and beautiful town of Lucca, vibrant by day and peaceful by night, with its lovely old buildings, narrow streets, shops and restaurants and the tree-lined ramparts which are such a feature of the town; the Baptistery and the famous Leaning Tower of Pisa; the wonderful shops at Forte dei Marmi on the Vesulian coast; the Carrara marble quarries and the of Pistoia; Puccini's home at Corte san Lorenzo; and the little villages of the Cinque Terre. We shall also be happy to arrange for you to visit an estate which produces some of the best olive oil in Italy, to taste the regional wines, to attend a concert in Lucca if the schedules permit, to visit a lovely garden and in every way we help you gain a sense of 'belonging' in this beautiful place. The main Villa has nine double bedrooms all with private bathrooms: six have queen or king-sized beds and three have twin beds.
