Description of Little Dix Bay Resort:
Just beyond a colorful barrier reef, lapped by gentle blue waters, lies the softly curving crescent beach of Little Dix Bay. A paradise which offers tranquility found nowhere else in the Caribbean; where the pristine shoreline and the soaring rock cathedrals of the Baths of Virgin Gorda create an unrivaled setting in which time seems to be suspended.
Centered around a secluded, crescent-shaped beach on the island of Virgin Gorda, Little Dix Bay rewards its discerning guests with an instantaneous retreat from their fast-paced lives. A stroll around Little Dix is like a walk through an enchanted garden. Shaded walkways curve through verdant lawns that roll down the sea. The resort is a sanctuary for soft adventurists and water sports enthusiasts seeking aquatic activities such as diving, snorkeling, sailing and hiking. It is also a gourmand?s fantasy with world-class dining in spectacular settings.
In the absence of the commercialism that cushions one from the Caribbean, Little Dix Bay connects one to the surroundings. Cottages and guestrooms blend unobtrusively into the surrounding landscape; guests arriving by boat do not notice any apparent building lines, only white sand with Bohio huts as sunshades against a backdrop of sea grape trees and coconut palms. This attribute upholds founder Laurance Rockefeller?s vision of a vacation hideaway that emulates a style of low-key luxury while embracing conservation and reverence for the environment.
CULINARY DELIGHTS SERVED AMIDST DRAMATIC BACKDROPS OF SEA AND SKY
The Pavilion
Four interconnected romantic Polynesian-style pyramids tilted so their mouths open to the sun and the sea are the center of life at Little Dix Bay. This is also the site for popular daily breakfast and lunch buffets and candlelight dinners.
The cuisine is decidedly Continental, keeping pace with the latest cooking trends with special emphasis on Caribbean influences. For cocktails, guests relax on the Pavilion's Terrace, a wide sun- and moonlight-drenched patio where a lively Caribbean band plays. Live entertainment is featured on selected nights.
The Sugar Mill
Specializing in light Italian cuisine with accent on seafood, the Sugar Mill is relaxed dining at its best. During the day, splashes of colorful bougainvillea cover the rooftops and guests dine in the sun. By night, guests dine under the stars by the sea. It is considered to be the most intimate of the three dining venues at night. Children under the age of five are not permitted.
The Beach Grill
Specializing in Asian cuisine by night and casual American favorites for lunch, the Beach Grill is quite lovely. During the day, select menu items may be served at your bohio by our beach walkers. And, on Thursdays, a special beach barbecue with steel band entertainment is offered at our Spring Bay picnic.
