Description of Casa Verde:
Located high in the delightful mountain spa village of Caldas in the Monchique mountains, Foz do Banho is a very impressive villa both inside and out. Built on one level and surrounded by beautifully landscaped gardens backed by mature mountain woodland, it?s very distinctive feature is the unique black granite swimming pool which is set quite literally within 2 ornamental lakes that are full of goldfish and water lilies. The classically rectangular salt-filtered pool is larger than average with integral steps into the shallow end and the underwater lighting creates a dramatic effect at nightfall. The black tiling creates an amazing reflective surface and has a practical purpose in that it retains the heat of the day. The house is octagonal to make the most of the mountain panorama, and features a vine-clad courtyard at the centre. Internal access to most of the rooms is via the light and airy corridor encircling the courtyard and there is an attractive covered terrace brimming with bougainvillea. The furnishing style is an elegant mixture of country and modern and the house has an uncluttered feel, yet there is enough detail to make it welcoming and comfortable.
