Description of Votanidi:
A traditional Italian country hunting lodge built at the beginning of the 20th century, set into a wooded hillside estate of 100 hectares. The outward appearance hides an opulent interior suitable for the Italian aristocracy of the day. Mila Martini Bernardini, the artist owner, succeeded in designing an exquisite and beautifully co-ordinated interior, using period furniture and hand-painted frescoes, and an originality created by the additional touches of her own works of art.
This splendid villa is located on the top of a hill and offers both privacy and seclusion with a view over the verdant valley of the Mugello to the north of Florence. The pool is 100 metres from the villa and has an adjacent pool house. The upper floor of this house is occupied by the Keeper who does not use the pool, gardens or villa. The lower part of the house was once the artist?s studio, and now houses a bathroom and living areas and also offers a covered terrace with table and chairs.
The highlight of this unique property is the reading room located at the top of the watchtower with its frescoes showing tranquil country scenes, comfortable furnishings and large windows opening out onto the balcony enjoying 360 degree panoramic views over the surrounding forest. The beautiful chandelier offers a sophisticated note to the room. Access is via a steep spiral staircase.
The bedrooms, like the house, have their own character. There is one double bedroom with an en suite bathroom. This has a connecting door to an additional single bedroom and from the main room offers views over the garden.
The other double bedroom on this floor can be converted to a twin and benefits from an en suite bathroom. There is a small single bedroom with en suite bathroom, a twin bedroom and bathroom, and another small single bedroom and bathroom. Children over the age of 12 are welcome.
