Description of Chalet Les Gets....a must ski:
A chocolate box exterior belies a chic and contemporary interior.
"Beyond perfect" is how Victoria Mather summed up this chalet a 17th century Savoyard farm building transformed into an icon of contemporary design by Nicky Dobree. Kevin McCloud on Grand Designs Abroad even described the interior as "like something from a James Bond set". A minimalist masterpiece, the large open plan living space is instantly calming, blending ancient timbers above with carefully chosen contemporary furnishings below. Light floods in from two vast picture windows, while the uninterrupted views of the national park, pistes and powder fields give the feeling that all you survey is your own.
The attention to detail is exceptional. Every piece of furniture is bespoke or adapted specifically for the house. The dramatic Italian kitchen is state-of-the-art, demarcated by a chic dark wood bar where you can watch the chef cook up a storm. Each bedroom is individually decorated, with the master suite taking up practically the entire upper floor. Downstairs there is a sauna and second sitting room with a plasma screen; outside a hot-tub. Set in its own grounds in a tiny hamlet, it is very private, yet just a three minute chauffeured drive from the centre of Les Gets and the main lift hub.
Just past the small local chapel lies the magical 17th Century Chalet. Sleeping up to ten guests in ensuite twin and double bedrooms, this is an intensely private and discreet location, yet it is only a three minute chauffeured drive from the centre of the village. Ancient timbers blend effortlessly with the likes of Christian Liaigre, Kohler, Poliform and Andrew Martin; old sitting with new in this exclusive home.
Set in its own private grounds, The Villa is blessed with fabulous uninterrupted views. From the south-facing windows, gaze out across the valley at the pistes, powder fields and snow clad trees.
